The townspeople are different in terms of status and condition from knighthood, and they also have different rights, in which each of them rejoices, given and confirmed by their kings and the Crown, by which, in praesentia, et in absentia regis, all towns and townspeople are accustomed to judge and rule among themselves and to do justice to each of their own people. Also, appeals from them are uniformly referred to nowhere else, only to the higher law of Krakow, Majdeburg et ad tribuoal regiae Maiestatis, there praesente quam absente rege ad illius felicem adventum. Just as recently, sub interregno, after the death of King Sigismund Augustus, the appeals in this city were suspended ad futurum regem, and since after the king's coronation the IMci were dismissed, so that no one was offended by this justice, it would be a great affront to the rights and enslavement, if their rights to another land (which they do not have, do not understand, nor will they ever they were not subject to) exerting power over their will and were supposed to compel them despite information, especially since this city has been exempt from all such courts and judges at all times by a specific law, and since they gave all other upper voivodeships, such as Krakow, Sandomierz and others, after the departure of the king to themselves and voluntarily enacting certain courts and articles, they gave peace to the crown cities in their counties, nothing to do with them. they did not interfere with themselves, as they left them completely and peacefully, and indeed gave me peace from violence, as they kindly provided for the poor and weak people. And also Lviv, being a crown city, should not be in a different condition than other cities, especially cum praeiudicio iurium suorum, because even this strangeness of J. Kr. Mcci, like all the Crown, will not consider this city as an interregnum, under which, however, from time to time the sworn councilors of Lviv offered themselves out of duty and of their official oaths, as their ancestors have always shown so far, their solid loyalty to the King IMci, Saint. to show and preserve peace, government, justice and defense of this city to me and to the whole Crown in such a providential manner that no violence or lawlessness would befall anyone in this city, which they had diligently observed sub interregno before, that no one could complain about wrongdoing against this city at this time, so now sub absentia regis tera they undertook more diligent efforts and diligence in order to maintain their justice and peace After all, everyone's behavior was the same. 2. For all the reasons, and at the kind request of the above-mentioned councilors and townspeople of Lviv, when the knights' circle did not want to let them out of it and, apart from their permission, they were forced to submit them to their chosen courts, there in the circle, these mentioned councilors of Lviv, to the lords themselves, clerical and lay councilors, and to all the knights who They were here in Lviv at this meeting, and several times they declared to the public and the celebrant, in front of the janitor and the appointed priest, that they had never allowed this to happen, because it was an insult to their rights, which their declaration was allowed in the circle. And with this circle, the usher and the nobility left that this was the case, and because they saw and heard it this way, they testified before the office and in these books, and their testimony is remembered by the names of famous Soviets and burghers of the said city of Lviv *).

') This protest is invoked by the townspeople in the cases brought against them by the townspeople. e.g. Castr. Leop. 763 p. 1500. In the land of Chełm, in order to prevent the townspeople from filing similar protests, a resolution was passed at the local council on August 29, 1674, under which starosts were forbidden to accept protests against such confederations.
