by resolution of the sejmik, the matter of the fortification of Przemyśl was taken to the Przemyśl tax court, where also all those who managed the matter of the fortification. they were supposed to submit accounts. However, since neither the city nor the lands could suffice for the expenses for the protective walls, it was decided in Wiśnia on July 23, 16(38) to ask the Sejm for the RZPT to contribute to the expenses. Finally, we have the laudum of August 18, 1072, under which it was decided to appoint a hundred infantrymen to the presidium of Przemyśl under the direction of the military officer and the sub-starosta of Przemyśl, which ex lege publiea government, security and justice sub ejypeditione generaU at the towns belongs.

But the Nejmik did not only care about the defense of the main cities of the earth. As the laudas collected in this volume indicate, care was also taken to fortify other smaller towns, such as Sanok, Krosno, Sambor, Drohobych, Stryj, Wiśnia, Żydaczów J). What's more, our local council is interceding in the Sejm for towns located further away, such as Podhajce, Kamianets-Podilskyi, and even for private fortifications such as Sieniawa and Brzeżauy, thus showing serious concern for the defense of towns that are bucklers and protection of the land. Numerous mentions of defensive measures and smaller cultural centers contain valuable contributions to the history of borderland towns.

We also have supporting material for the history of the wars of that time, for almost each of the numerous expeditions in Zbara, Berestecky, Bar, Kraśnik, Mohyłów, Cudnów, Podhaje, etc., especially regarding the participation of our voivodeship in them.

And in other matters, such as cultural issues (postal regulations) and civilization issues, such as attitudes towards the Lviv Academy and attitudes towards the Church, there is a lot of material in our collection. In particular, we have many contributions to the attitude of the sejmik towards monasteries, and these monasteries, let us not forget, are educational centers or philanthropic institutions used to redeem numerous prisoners who were dragged from Poland in thousands to the eastern fairs. All these and other dates, whether related to local history or to the history of civilization, indicate that the sejmik, despite the flaws of the spirit of the times and the circumstances favoring excessive growth, was an institution supporting civilization growth, absorbed by Western principles, deepening the love of the homeland and the feelings of honor, law and order, and only the immeasurable striving for unlimited freedom exasperated it and hampered the life governed by the sejm. The dissonance resulting from this endeavor can be felt in the very sound of the laudes. These are, after all, works written by a noble commoner, both in terms of composition and editing, often by a nobleman who came directly from the plow or from other economic activities. Certainly, the editorial office is influenced by county authorities, but also those often without any titles, although they hold marshalship by choice, such as Andrzej Lahodowski, Adam Dzierzek, Bazyli Ustrzycki. In truth, there are also people among them, such as Andrzej Maxymilian Fredro or Jan Stanisław Jabłonowski, and undoubtedly their spirit, their views were reflected in the lauds and became the views of the gentry as a whole, from which they did not differ at all, and in fact went along with them and are, as it were, an outgrowth
