") The original contains the form Atw, which has virtually no meaning. However, when this document was issued for merchants of the city of Lviv, we did not hesitate to use the form Aiw take the writer's shortening or omission as obvious and supplement it in such a way that instead of the words: WT i\(w in the read text we put the words: wrf-k] Aav[HEc>Ypra]. We gave priority to the conjecture wt[t>] AfWHKOV'prd on the particular basis that the spelling AfCHKoy-pr-K^ was Leonburg or Lemburg, as Prince Peter's documents from 1387 (Ob. Dogiel, Codex diplom. Pol. I. 597., or also Rykaczewski, Inventarium omnium et sing. privilegiorum, litterarum etc, quaecumque in arce Cracoviensi continentur, Lutetiae Parisiorum, 1862, pages 131-32), and especially the document of Prince Mircza from 14U'J (see No. *III of this edition) - much more frequently used by Wallachian writers at that time than the forms: AconoAk, Aeoh-TcncAK, AcoBiH, AioRiH and others.

') Proper name: Tp'KroKH4i£ — Tirguvestei, obviously derives from the word Tp'Kr'K = targ [market]; therefore we called it in Polish: Targowica.

(^ formula: noM.«kKiiic wtW RpaH<\c>Kj) divides Hażdeu 1. c. into ^opH and jy,^, but it does not translate it and cannot translate it with because the word jy,c(iH, as such, neither in Slavic nor in Romanian has any meaning applicable here. We, for our part, have therefore tried a slightly different way of dividing and, having resolved the ligature pH^c, we are of the opinion that these words correspond entirely to Romanian: de -a rTudul=:one in order: with: one and the same. And taking this for granted, we think that this place in Romanian should have approximately the following form: si dupo aceta ei sa fie slobodi (understand: Lviv merchants, etc.) de a imbla iu tót:'t terra «:i provincia domniei melle, vindendu.?i comperandii, prin tóte oracele, prin tóte schellele de pe Dunare, incependii de la Portile-de-ferru de -a rindul pina chiar la Braila.

') I"orm np-bsnAJHHHCKiH also corresponds, only slightly more precisely like the form sanAaHHHCKiH, to Latin transalpinus (in the first sense of the word), and should also be translated by zapołoniński np^ksnAaHHHCKKiwii] therefore means not: along all the roads leading through the połoniny, i.e. through the Trans-Sylvanian Alps to the Multan estates in Hungary, but: on all the roads located in the Multan estates beyond the Alps, i.e. directly: all the trans-Alpine roads.

'") This copy is made in large bonded letters and placed on both sides of the gap cut out for hanging the seal.

") Targowica, once the capital of the Wallachian princes, lies on the Jałomica River, a side of the Danube, and is currently a town belonging to the Dambovic district (district).

'-) There is neither a date in this document nor the place where the document was issued is indicated, although we would be very wrong to doubt its authenticity. Because the shortcomings just pointed out are a phenomenon in Romanian diplomacy (Porow, a random collection of documents written in Romania), repeated so often that they cannot be used as evidence against the authenticity of this document, especially when we consider that the commercial rights and freedoms granted on its basis to merchants and townspeople of Lviv, etc., are fully confirmed in the Latin document, issued (with all legal and diplomatic requirements observed). formalities) by the same prince of Mircze in 1409 and printed
