and hostile in the c. Shuisky, also confirm that Skopin’s death could have been the work of only D. Shuisky and his wife. Abraham Palitsyn, for obvious reasons, keeping silent about the names of the characters, directly says that “the tongue of many from the hearts of the evil one moves and they come with an oath in the secret thoughts of the autocrat,” explaining to him that “the whole earth honors the great Michael more than you, the great king” (230); and to our friends we know who approached Tsar Vasily with such importunate instigations and at whom Tsar Vasily swung his stick. It is clear why Palitsyn, further talking about Dmitry’s failure at Klushin, already allows himself not to spare him and exposes the general hatred in him (232). But even the author of “The Tale of Skopin,” who describes in detail the scene at Vorotynsky and the case of D. Shuisky’s wife, says that the tsar himself, “returning from burial to his chamber, fell prostrate on the table and bitterly floated over the deceased” (387;. Even more important is the testimony of another chronicler, who does not spare Tsar Vasily, describes the affair of D. Shuisky’s wife, and even attributes the feast itself to Shuisky; but at the same time he conveys that, after the battle of Klushin, the people demanded that Vasily Shuisky leave the throne, and blamed only his brothers for Skopin’s death (“your brothers are their nephew, and our sovereign... is a poison ovormish.” Pol. collected Russian let. U, 59)1).

Skopin's death transferred power into the hands of the Shuiskys. But their triumph was short-lived. An intrigue that has taken deep roots iryae Ma$. Vih. Vaziyoya tashshpe evil (shppiyit ciivt shiabepiishp, yaeb apitogshp toishp po i sotroyaoizzei (Imekishi, 139 - 140).

This detachment of troops undoubtedly consisted of archers, who were commanded by Shuisky’s other brother, Prince Ivan Ivanovich (Zholkevsky, 157).

O In another legend, placed there, this thought is expressed even more clearly: “Then, sin for our sake, in the Moscow state there was discord among the people, Tsar Vasily began to hate for much bloodshed, and the second brethren of his nephew hated for his bravery, Prince Mikhail Skopin, who was the German who was hired and drove away the thief from Lithuania, and luring him to Moscow with deadly poison" (Poly. collected Russian years. V, 71).

in the then political system of Russian society, undermined the trust of those who took the initiative to pacify it, and it again rushed into the whirlpool of struggle, from which came new people who managed to unite the mutually hostile aspirations of a seemingly disintegrating society.

Several documents relating to the transformation in the Don Army in 1775.

On February 15, 1775, the report of the military collegium of the vice-president, general-in-chief, Novorossiysk and Azov provinces, Governor General Potemkin, was confirmed by the Highest, which, “for the management of all zemstvo affairs” within the Don Army, was proposed to establish a “military civil government” under the supervision of Potemkin himself; and at the same time, foremen, colonels and other ranks of the Don Army should be given equal rights to army mines. Indicating the reasons why Potemkin found it necessary to separate the civil administration of the Don Army from the military, the report also set out in part the reasons for which the vice-president of the military collegium petitioned the empress to equalize the rights of the Cossack service with the army. “To this all-submissive idea of mine,” said Potemkin, I dare, Most Gracious Empress, to add to your justice all the Don Troops’ chief elders and colonels, who were in many campaigns and battles with their regiments for the glorification of the fatherland, which, in the image of their easy service, your victorious army in their rank is equally necessary and The essence is useful, just as other military units are necessary. And until now, except for some of them, they have no comparison with the military ranks established according to the report card, and through this, despite their long service in the rank of colonel, sub-
