There are no legends about the area of the Dmitrievsky Monastery, nor about the church with ". Peter's in Kyiv, none have survived. There are two historical indications. 1st) Berlinsky testifies that in the written documents of the Kyiv magistrate archive, burned in 1811, in the 21st document, under 1654, there was a mention of the Dmitrievsky vzvoz and the Dmitrievskaya Lukomi or ravine, located on the southern side of Mikhailovskaya Mountain, near the present Kreshchativ. Knowing Kyiv since 1833, when its area was still in a rather primitive state, I remember very well that, in addition to the Borichev vzvoz, which began between two ramparts at the northwestern corner of the fence of the Kyiv-St. It began on Aleksandrovsky Descent from Kreshchativ, where the Palestine Hotel is now, and burst into the garden of the monastery, behind the building of its hotel, 100 steps from the southwestern corner of the monastery fence. The location of the transport ravine is indicated on the fence by cracks. The upper part of this carriage, which entered the monastery courtyard, was filled with manure in 1833. During the lining of Mikhailovskaya Gora in 1840, it was rolled over and compacted with earth, and the lower part was cleared into the shape of a square platform, on which a square was arranged and the above-mentioned building was built.

2nd) In the handwritten prologue of the 14th century it is said that the people of Kyiv were baptized by St. Vladimir in the Dnipro, opposite the place where the church of St. Petra. Since no other church of St. Peter's in Kyiv, except for the one in the Demetrius Monastery, is unknown from the chronicles; then there is no doubt that the church mentioned in the Prologue, which stood opposite the place of baptism of the Kievites, is Dmitrievskaya, renamed in the 12th century to the Church of St. Petra.
If the church of St. Petra (formerly Dmitrievskaya) stood opposite the place where the Kievans were baptized, then it should have been located opposite the Khreshchatytsky spring, near which both tradition and history believe the baptism of the Kyivans under St. Vladimir. Consequently, the Dmitrievskaya Church with a monastery of this name was on Mikhailovskaya Hill, in its southeastern part, near which there was a separate transport route from Borichev, which in the 17th century was older than Dmitrievsky. Along Borichev's transport they dragged the idol of Perun to

Dnipro. and according to Dietrieyev-®a; the people of Kyiv descended to the Dnipro to receive s*, baptism.
The location of the Dkltrievezh monastery in the southeastern part of the Mnpiioksho Golden-Domed Monastery has been preserved here even now, the ancient monuments of two great churches, among which, on two boards of a red shield, bas-relief images of St. Dmitry and St. George, now embedded in the monastery fence, near the economic monastery gates. Without a doubt, these are the foundations of 1) the church of St. Dmitry, created by the leader. book Iayasyaav Yaroslavich, and 2) the church of St. Peter, founded but unfinished by his son Yaropolk. If you become a lyceum to the south, then the foundations of these two churches will be on the left side of the former Dmitrievsky vzvoz ’). These foundations have been known since 1785: you mention them in the report and. Samuel St. Synod. Berlinsky testifies that the bricks of these foundations were used during the construction of the monastery fence here in his time, in 1785. In all likelihood, the Church of St. Demetrius, remaining for a long time without support, during the two-century desolation of Kyiv, collapsed
