1) The village of Zvonkov is not on the way from Kyiv to Vasilkov; on the contrary, it deviates from it by more than 20 versts to the west, so that a person arriving from Kyiv to Zvonkova must turn from there to Vasskhchov almost at an acute angle.

2) -Zvonkova lies more than 30 versts from Kyiv and too 20 from Vasilkov; it is difficult to imagine that the Kievans on foot could cover this space (55 versts) in two crossings.

3) Having arrived from Kyiv to Zvonkova, there is no need to go from there to the Perenetovo field through Vasilkov: you can get closer and more conveniently to the city by following the flow of the Irpen and its tributary the Uava, and, in this case, you can go to the Perepetovo field near the summer Khvasgov, avoiding the inconvenience of not crossing the Stugna and, moreover, significantly deviating the path.

4) It is even more difficult to admit that the army, sent to Torcheek (Bezradichi) in 234, was on its way through Zvonkova, which lies on the opposite side of Kyiv.

5) The village of Zvonkova has neither a settlement nor other nrisias. kov existence in the old days on the site of this village of an urban settlement.

The Legend of Vasilko Rostisdavich.

We owe it to the literature of historical stories and chronicles that we have the initial history of our people, rich in legends. Whereas the Latin works of Gregory of Tours and Paul the deacon tell about the first times of the historical life of Western European states (with the exception of England). Vidukinda, we get acquainted with the events of Rus' in the 9th and 10th centuries exclusively from chronicles written in our native language. To more clearly define the meaning of our ancient historical writing, let us dwell a little on our neighboring country—Germany. Along with Christian enlightenment, Latin liturgical writing penetrated there, and the weak beginnings of pagan literacy had to hide and disappear for the time being. An alien language became a symbol of everything revolving; the folk language in writing could only be an expression of the rejected, pagan. Writing only occasionally condescended to it - glosses and explanations to the sacred text were written on it. For several centuries, the popular language did not acquire the rights to writing - and all church, legal and historical monuments, with rare exceptions, were written in Latin. When knightly poetry developed and penetrated the walls of monasteries, the monks, who took up the pen with a soul-saving purpose, decided to put the folk epic song on paper, but first translated it into Latin. At the time when Hildebrand's epic was written down by a monk, hostility

Latin enlightenment to the pagan people began to disappear. A period of dual faith arose: Christian beliefs received popular significance, and folk customs of mythical origin were sanctified by the authority of the church. But in historical literature, according to tradition and custom, Latin still dominated; however, by its very nature, it resembles German speech; German epigraphs and folk sayings appear here and there. Only the main step had to be taken - to present in German everything that did not directly relate to the church and could not give rise to a schism in it, although universal in name, but papal, therefore Roman, in essence.

Finally, the time came when literature was to be divided into ecclesiastical Latin and secular folk literature. This happened in the era of the Crusades - the era of creativity, poetic imagination. There was a lot of material; At the same time, the not forgotten mythology was resurrected in a new form and intertwined with the ideals of the Christian world and the Muslim East. The rich knightly epic became a need for society: people lived in it, believed in it, enjoyed it, and acted in its name. Poetry became, as it were, a craft: caravans of wandering singers stretched from castle to castle. The more extensive the need for songs, the wider the range of legends, the more difficult it was for singers to do without writing. She formed schools of singers who collected epic cycles and processed them in writing in terms of style and content. Under the influence of poetic literature, historical writing also lost its scholastic form; a general speculative, observational description was replaced by a living individual story. The author of the chronicle himself stands in the foreground in his work and captivates the reader, like a wandering singer, with the warmth and entertainment of his story.
