At the end of 1873, the manager of the Kyiv treasury chamber, P. D. Perevoshchikov, turning his enlightened attention to the archive of old affairs of the Kyiv treasury chamber, proposed to the Society. Nestor to warm up this archive and extract from it more or less historically important documents. As a result of this proposal, the Society appointed a special commission to review the aforementioned archive.
From the inventory of old documents of the Kyiv Treasury Chamber, it is clear that there are 1583 D*№ of these documents, among which there are quite voluminous ones, containing up to 1070 renumbered sheets. At first glance at this inventory, it turns out that it contains cases from 1748 to 1811 inclusive. In terms of their internal content, these cases relate to the state economy and various measures and reforms for its management. But since the state economy comes into close contact with the economic situation of rural industry, mayafactory, trade, city government, spiritual and landowners' estates; then the above-mentioned cases cover various aspects of the economic situation of the Kyiv province and the city of Kyiv over the last half of the past and the first decade of the present century. There is information here about the colonization of the region, such as: about the Greeks who settled in the city of Nizhyn (No. 629), about the colonists in the village. Bratskaya Borshchagovka (No. 277), about the Mennonites who settled in the Kyiv province (No. 685). Here you are

you will find information about the state of state-owned forests (No. 694), apiaries (No. 510), gardens and vegetable gardens (No. 1054; 963), about state-owned and private distilleries (No. 949); inquiries about whether there are any factories and manufactories in the Kyiv province (No. 691), on which rivers and lakes ships sail (No. 759, etc.). Since the Kyiv province in the last century was a border province, the Kyiv Treasury Chamber was in charge of several border customs houses. From the submissions of the heads of these customs to the state tax, one can see how many goods were brought from abroad and exported abroad, and what kind of goods (No. 221, 230, 341, etc.), how many merchants went abroad and came from there (No. 225 - 226), and so on.
As for the city of Kyiv, there are several files about it in the archives of the Kyiv Treasury Chamber concerning its external history and topography. These are eg. cases: about the construction of St. Andrew's Church (Nos. 2-4); about the construction of the state palace in Kyiv (Nos. 5 and 639); on approval of the plan for the city of Kyiv (No. 400); on taking measures to avert danger to those living above the mill during spring and autumn (No. 1125), etc.
But what is most important for us is that in the archives of the Kyiv Treasury Chamber there are documents that existed much earlier than itself. These documents usually form appendices in later cases that arose in the second half of the past and at the beginning of this century. These are eg. cases: about finding information about 6 starostin lands and forests (No. 799), often with the attachment of the documents for these starostas (16 V; 800 - 801, 804, 809, 981, 999); about finding the source of information about Voitism (No. 682); on the confiscation of estates from the Uniate metropolitan (No. 790); on documents for Biskupsky estates (No. 806); on the confiscation of property from Orthodox monasteries to the state department, and so on. Taking decisive measures and drastic changes on certain points, our government first wanted to get acquainted with the hysteria of a known subject and learn the foundations of a famous institution, for example. fighting in order to more successfully achieve their goals. On the other hand, having taken away their property from the Uniate metropolitan and Orthodox pastors, the government had no motive; insert documents on these estates from their previous owners n. day; on the contrary, it needed these documents to justify and confirm its new property rights. So, in our opinion, ancient documents appeared in the archives of the Kyiv Treasury Chamber. In addition, there were other hiding places for old documents or copies of them to appear in this archive. These reasons lay in disputes between local monasteries about property, both among themselves and with other institutions and individuals. There are several such controversial cases in the archives of the Kyiv Treasury Chamber (DO 6-7, 278, 380, 305, 1079-1084, 1086 etc.). To prove their rights, the disputing parties presented documents to confirm their rights.
For our part, we became acquainted with two groups of documents from the archives of the Kyiv treasury chamber, namely: documents for some monastery property and documents for some elders.
