3) It was not D. Shuisky who fled, disgraced, from the battlefield. He fled from Kaluga “in only a caftan” (Gerkmav, 297).
According to Maskevich, D. Shuisky was the first to get on a horse near Klushin and fled from the battlefield, and then the troops began to flee (Diary in nz. Ustryalov 41).
On the campaign with D. Shuisky there were many expensive cups, furs and horse-drawn carriages. The winners received his weapons, carriage and velvet and gold banner (Zap. Zholkiewski 102 - 103. Pg. 2uv-III, vol. I, 603).
KOPIN-SHUISKY.
Golitsyn about the overthrow of the tsar, and with cities loyal to Shuisky, in order to deviate them from the latter. That was “revenge” on his part. Shuisky “for the death of Skopin,” which met with complete sympathy in Moscow itself (New Years. 118-119; Nik. 133; Years of the Rebellion. 179; Lat. Step. Book in Karamz. XII, pr. 532); many entered into negotiations with the thief’s supporters in favor of Sigismund. Seeing this turn of events, Tsar Shuisky himself wanted to establish relations with Zholnevsky and decide his fate through negotiations. But Lyapunov warned him. On his initiative, his brother Zakhary and several like-minded people began the work of deposing Shuisky, and, after the verdict of the boyars and the people, they forcibly tonsured him (July 19, 1610): thus began a new, final act of the troubled era. The Pskov chronicler considers the fall of Shuisky to be a direct consequence of the death of Skopin and the unsuccessful battle of D. Shuisky (59). And in the verdict of the Duma, which took place during the deposition of the c. Vasily, it was decided that his brothers would no longer be present in it (Sub. state gram. II, 390); but at the same time, in order to avoid worse consequences, they considered it necessary to ensure the inviolability of life for both the king and his wife, and both his brothers. This was necessary in view of the fact that, after the flight of D. Shuisky to Moscow, the people’s party directly accused the Shuiskys of the ruin of the state, and his brothers of the destruction of Skopin: “For your sake, they told the tsar, Christian blood is shed and the Earth is divided, because you reigned not by the election of the whole Earth; your brothers are your nephew, but our sovereign’s defender and intercessor, fed with poison: to whom shall we now resort? We have no more hope; come down from the kingdom, so that our Earth will be united” (Pskov. 59).
Skopin's merits, on the contrary, caused recognition from the Earth. In the verdict of June 30, 1611, which ordered the revision of estates and estates acquired in troubled times, Skopin’s associates were protected from any encroachment on their rights.
Thus, the role of the Shuiskys was played out, and soon they had to participate, among the trophies, in the Warsaw triumph of Zolkiewski (October 29, 1611). Within Poland, the following died one after another: the former Tsar Vasily (September 12, 1612) and his brother Dmitry (1613); but their bodies were transferred to Moscow in 1635. The third brother, Ivan, who returned alive, took over

corresponding place at the Moscow court and died in 1638 O* With him the surname of the Shuisky princes in Russia ceased (Genealogy book, Prince P. Dolgor. I, 235-36).
In conclusion, let’s talk about some controversial issues related to the catastrophe that befell Skopin-Shuisky.
Our researchers disagree on the date of death of Prince Skopin. The funeral record of the Archangel Cathedral has been preserved, in which it is noted that he died on April 23 2). Based on this indication and taking into account that some sources speak of Skopin’s death as if it occurred on the same day when he fell ill, ext. Shcherbatov (Russian History, U II, Part P, 382), Karamzin (XII, 125), Buturlin (History of the Troubles of Time, IP, 133) and Artsybashev (Tale of Russia, IP, 233) claim that he fell ill and died on April 23, 16109). Meanwhile there are
') Karamzin (XII, 183) incorrectly says that he died in Poland. On the contrary, his name is found among the boyars who were present during the reading of the incriminating tale against Shein (Soloviev, IX, 375). After the death of his wife, who died on June 17, 1634, Prince. Ivan accepted the schema with the name of Jonah. He was buried in Suzd. cathedrals, Church of the Birth. Mother of God, and his wife in Pokrov. girlish my. Their commemoration is often mentioned in Stolov. monastery book. Every year. Vlad. Stat. Committee, 1877, I, issue. I, 112 - 122.
About the wife of Tsar Vasily in expense. book of the king treasury 1613 - 14 it is recorded: “They made Tsar Vasilyeva’s fur coat for Queen Marya.” Descriptive records, books of palace orders, A. Viktorova, I, 67.
