* Durgi came to him... and kissed her, without dismounting from her horses, at Oegomlya, in Bologna*. This meeting was in Bologna, near Olgovaya Mogila, and Bologna knows where - between the Dnipro and Shchekovika, therefore Olegovaya Mogila was not on the western side of Kyiv;
* to the north of it - on Shchekovitsa. At a superficial glance, this is indeed the conclusion of the above-mentioned rapprochement between Dneprovsky’s Bologna and Oleg’s Mogila. But this conclusion is incorrect. What is called bologna in the chronicles?
[fragment illegible in the scan of the first edition]
Bologna is the name given to the low-lying bank of the river, occupied by the flood of water in the spring. Bologna was not near Kyiv alone. It is mentioned near Pereyaslav near the river. Trubezha, near the river Dniester and near Sudomir near the river. Vistula. This is what the Chronicle says: “Izyaslav, having straightened out of the city (Pereyaslav), went to Bologna” (p. 266); “at night the water from the Dniester is great in Bologna and up to the Bykov swamp” (p. 368); “The expelled (resident) from the city (Sudomir), I put Tatarova on a bologna near the Vistula and spent two days on a bologna” (p. 358); “Vladimirko attacked Bologna before the city (Galich near the Belka River)” (p. 225). There was more than one Bologna known near Kyiv. Bologna is mentioned in the chronicle 1) near the city itself from the Dnipro: “Berendichi on Bologna from the Dnipro (in Kyiv) set fire to the thousand’s courtyard” (p. 365); 2) bologna in the vines against Dorogozhichi (p. 353) and bologna near Vyshgorod (391): “Mstislav, having dispatched his regiments and went to bologna against them” (to Svyatoslav Vsevolodovich, Mikhalko and Vsevolod Yurich). Bologna was also on the western side of Kyiv near the river. Lybedi. He is quite definitely mentioned in the story of the arrival of Yuri Dolgoruky to Kyiv in 1151. Yuri's regiments stood on the right bank of the river. Lybedi; The army of Vyacheslav and Izyaslav is on the opposite bank, from the direction of Kyiv, “and they began to fight against Lybid. There is no way to assume here that we are talking about Dnipro Bologna; for it is impossible to think that part of Yuri’s army, having made its way through the Kyiv regiments along Glubochitsa and through Podol to the Dnipro Bologna, here started a battle with someone at a time when Yuri was just moving towards Kyiv from the western side. It is clearly said: “Friends in Bologna are fighting against Vyacheslav and Izyaslav,” and Vyacheslav and Izyaslav stood on the left bank of the river. Lybedi. Therefore, here we are talking not about the Dnipro, but about the Lybedsky Bologna. Here, of course, on Lybidskoye, and not on the Dnipro Bologna, Vladimir Galitsky’s meeting with Yuri took place, near Olgovaya Mogila. Setoml, adjacent to this bologna, in which fish were caught, is in all likelihood one of several ponds that were along the river. Lybedi back in the 1st half of this century, the closest is the current Cadet Pond, below which there is a large bologna parallel to the highway.
One more note. If Oleg's Grave was on the mountain
WHAT LOCATION WAS CALLED OLEG'S GRAVE IN ANCIENT TIMES? 27
Shchekovide, was t, sk. mountain on that mountain; then the chronicler, speaking about Oleg’s Grave, should have mentioned Shchekovitsa somewhere, but it is never mentioned in the narrative about the events at Oleg’s Grave. Speaking about Yuri's meeting with Vladimir Galitsky in Bologna near Oleg's Mogila, he should have defined this Bologna by the proximity of Shchevovitsa, and not Oleg's Mogila, located somewhere on Shchekovitsva Mountain, meanwhile, the chronicle mentions only one Oleg's Tomb, and moreover, in such a way that according to the letter of the chronicle it even turns out that rather Oleg's Megila was on Bologna itself, than on such a high mountain as Shchekovida: “Volodya came to Olgovaya Mogila and Durgi came to him.... and that (at Olgovaya Mogila) kissed her, at Setoml, on Bologna.” Could the chronicler have expressed himself this way if Oleg’s Tomb had not itself been adjacent to Bologna and was located somewhere on a mountain overlooking Podolsk Bologna? It would be like if someone said: we came to the Shchekovitsa church and here, in Bologna, we kissed...
