On November 16 of the same year, a private meeting took place, in which Dr. V. B. Antonovich reported archaeological news about graves of a special type (cromlechs) found in the estate of the city of Nemirich, Uman district, Kyiv city, and S. T. Golubev read a study entitled: “Bibliographical notes on some early printed Church Slavonic books,” between other things about Meletius Smotritsky’s Fr^ios 8).

1) The archaeological news of V.B. Antonovich consisted of the following. In the summer of this year, in Umansky district. Kyiv province, on land owned by M. Talny, the owner of the farm, Mr. Nemirich, two tombs were excavated, interesting in the surroundings. Among a vast field, with mounds scattered in it, Mr. Nemirich noticed three circles of large boulders. For economic purposes, Mr. Nemirich decided to transport the stones to his estate. But they turned out to be sitting in the ground at 2/3 of their height; they had to dig up the ground quite deeply, and then traces of graves were discovered. They were two arshins deep. The skeletons lay in a horizontal position, with their heads pointing to the west. In one of the graves there were two skeletons. At the head of one of them stood a vessel made of red copper. Traces of coal and more than 60 molars of a wild horse breed were found in the bulk earth. In another tomb one skeleton was found and near its right hand

an iron chair and an iron knife without a handle. Tombs without a mound and marked with a circle of boulders - an extremely rare phenomenon in southern Russia - indicate the trace of a tribe that temporarily stayed in the region (the household remains of local residents are found in numerous mounds). Circles of stones near tombs are known in the West. Europe under the general term cromlechs.

2) D. member. S. T. Golubev presented his comments on the “Essay on Slavic-Russian bibliography” by Ya. F. Golovatsky, published in 1874, as a supplement to the work of V. M. U Idolsky, containing books and articles omitted in the first issue of the “Chronological Index of Slavic-Russian Books of Church Printing from 1491 to 1864” (M. 1871). The referent dwelled on some misunderstandings and inaccuracies in the bibliographic testimony of Y. F. Golovatsky, such as the book of Frio^e, that is, the Lamentation of the Eastern Church on the retreat of some from the ancient Greek confession and from obedience to the Patriarch of Constantinople, M. Smotritsky (1596), as well as on the book of Defense. Brest Russian Cathedral (1597).

In December of the same year there was a general meeting in which Dr. P. I. Alandsky read the article: “On the mental process of creating mofs,” and Dr. I. P. Khrushchov presented “characteristics of the literary activity of the recently deceased Count A. B. Tolstoy.”

On January 25, 1876, a public meeting of the Society took place, in which Dr. A. V. Romanovich-Slavatinsky presented “an outline of the history of the Kyiv Archaeographic Commission and the activities of the late N. D. Ivanishev in it” *).

On February 26 of the same year there was a private meeting of the Society, in which A.D. Voronov read an article: “about the extensive or so-called Pannonian life of St. Cyril,” and then a message from F. G. Mishchenva was presented: “about the newly discovered ancient manuscript of Strabo’s geography” 2).

') This note was included in the biography of Ivanishev, published by the author in Ancient. and Nov. Russia 1876 and separately.

2) The message of F. G. Mishchenko was published in the Univ. Izvestia, and an article by A.D. Voronov in the Proceedings of the Kyiv Spirit. academy.

In April of the same year, a private meeting took place, in which N.P. Zaderatsky read “an essay on the life and literary activity of the Czech scientist Franz Palacky.”

At the meeting on September 26, 1876, they heard a letter from the honorary. member M.V. Yuzefovich, to whom he proposes to accept Archaeographer. The commission publishes those works of the Society that it recognizes as useful for domestic science to publish. Determined: to notify Messrs. members, would anyone like to publish their work soon and which one?
