Together with the royal confessor, Fyodor Barmin, he assured the cold Ivan of the guilt of the Glinskys, and the popular punishment that befell the latter, in all likelihood, was not alien to these suggestions (Karamzin, ed. Einerl., IPI, 47, 51, 61-64; Soloviev, VI, 42-57; cf. Tale. book. Kurbsky and his copy from Ioan., ed. 2, 185) *)• However, his son, Vasily, 20 years later, is found among the nobles of the first article (Collected state grams. 1, 550), and then (from 1577) as a boyar at the court of Ivan the Terrible throughout his reign (Posluzhi, list, Ancient Ross. Vivl., XX, 55., 59). He was entrusted with the main army that was gathering against Batory in Novgorod (Discharges in Ancient Russian Viv., XIV, 349 - 352), and together with the prince. Iv. Peter. Shuisky, he was the main defender of Pskov (Karamzin, IX, note 567).
The reign of Fyodor Ivanovich found the prince. Vasily Skopin as governor of Novgorod (ЖЪ., X, 30); but, as the first governor and boyar, he lived in Moscow, and Novgorod was ruled by the younger governor, Prince. Mikhail Petrovich Katyrev (Ib. pr. 418). However, at the very beginning the irreconcilability of the two parties, the Shuiskys and the Godunovs, became obvious. First, however, through Metropolitan. Dionysius. it was possible to arrange peace between them (1585), but its fragility was soon revealed in full force: everything that one party sought was opposed by the other, and the Shuiskys did not want to yield to the Godunovs in anything (Nikon. let. year 1585; Latukh. step. book; Karamz. X, pr. 143). Boris Godunov was in terrible anger against them. Then the Shuiskys, in alliance with the Metropolitan and Moscow merchants, decided to finally shake the authority of Boris. They began to convince the tsar to divorce his wife (Boris’s sister) because of her childlessness, and they had already predicted a new wife for him in the prince’s sister. Fed. Iv. Mstislavsky-). ') Before his death, he accepted the schema with the name Theodosius. The family tomb of the Skopin-Shuisky princes is located in Suzdal, in the cathedral church of the Nativity of the Virgin (Historical collection about the city of Suzdal. Vremnik Moscow obshch. history book. XXII, pp. 154, 202).

V. O. ikongazhm,
At the age of 7, according to the custom of that time, he was taught to read and write. The biographer Skopila praises “the quickness of his mind*, as a result of which teaching came easily to him, and soon after he was “into the royal tenants” *). The biographer Skoplen’s note about his literacy is of some significance, since at that time the princes and boyars were beating, who, due to illiteracy, could not add their names (Collected State Grammar, I, No. 192 and 203) 2). But Skonin already belonged to a new generation. It was a time of mental excitement in the Moscow state: the government took care of book printing, the establishment of higher schools, and the sending of young people abroad (one of whom later rendered a favor to Skopin), although these buried in Suzdal, in the family tomb (About the city of Suzdal, p. 202 and the story of the birth. Skop., 379).
