There is nothing in the chronicles to substantiate the authenticity of this legend, but it does not harbor the contradictions of the legend. Dark Mountain is not far from Kulikovo Zero. Directly! The route to Kolomna lies near this mountain. According to the latest chronicles, Dnmntri! On September 21st he arrived in Colonna, it became bet, after September 8th, which marked the Battle of Kulikovo, he had enough time to rest on the road with the troops and to celebrate the victory. The area near the mountain, consisting of non-window hills, is very convenient for a halt for a large army; and the mountain itself is the best place for the grand duke’s tent in the entire surrounding area. It was natural for Dmitry to be wary of hostile actions on the part of Oleg, who, as is known, continued to quarrel even after the Kulikovo victory and harmed some Moscow detachments returning through his kayalyustzo. The agreement between the Ryazan people and Donskoy that followed a short time later shows that they did not sympathize with Oleg’s enmity with Dmitry, and therefore the greeting they made to the winner does not contain anything incredible *). Opposite the monastery to the southwest, on the slope of one hill, in the 17th century, as can be seen from the scribal books, there was a settlement known as “Voskresenskoe, Pobednoe also*.” And now the village “Pobedinka” is located in this place. And the very fact that in the monastery one church was consecrated in the name of Demetrius of Thessalonica, and the other in the name of St. Sergius, gives some degree of credibility to the surviving tradition.
The best justification for the legend, of course, should be the antiquity of the monastery. Unfortunately, no written documents have been preserved in the monastery, by which one could trace its entire history; but there are clear traces indicating his existence at a time, if not close to the time of Dmitry Donskoy, then not too far from this time.
In the monastery's printed Lenten triodion there is a note on the pages, which shows that this book was purchased in Moscow for the Demetrius Monastery in 1689, under Abbot Gerontius.
') Karamzin says: the procession from the Kulikov field to the Kremlin gates was a continuous triumph; On the water, the people greeted both * dvtsnl with joy and gratitude. \Kar. T. V. Ch. 1).
Meticulous practice of the Ozhudakova branch*. H7:
Nyach bell tower has two large ancient bells. On one of them it is written that it was purchased by Abbot Gerasim and his brother for the Dmitriev Monastery, with government monastic money, in 1693; and on the other the inscription shows that it was also attached to the Dmitriev Monastery in 1684.
In 1867, when they were collecting materials for a historical and statistical description of the city of Skopina, ancient documents related to the St. Demetrius Monastery were found in the Riga archives. One of them is an extract from the scribe books of the Riga district, namely: in the books for 1627, 1628 and 1629, letters and land surveying measures of Grigory Kireyevsky. It contains a detailed inventory of the Dmitriev Monastery - the things in the church, the monastery staff and the peasant households and estates belonging to the monastery.
Thus, from the inscriptions on the Lenten triodion and the monastery bells, as well as from the ancient inventory of the monastery, it is clear that the Dmitriev Monastery existed during the 17th century.
Another document contains a rather detailed account of the long-term litigation that the monastery had with the Ryazan resident Fyodor Golitsyn over the land seized by him.
