Bedouins wear long shirts, in addition to sharawars; the front of their shirt has a hole in it, and that’s why their chest is bare; elbow-length sleeves; belt made of woolen cord. A cloth cloak with a kanishon is usually thrown over the shoulders; it is of a buff color. The Bedouins have long, white teeth, larger eyes, black and shiny in the heat: there is something animalistic about them. The untidiness and uncleanliness, both on the people themselves and in their tents, is overwhelming: in this they seem to have surpassed our nomadic Gypsies, and in the needs of domestic life, and some of these luxuries, they even lagged behind them. Their horses are chained by their front legs to stakes driven into the sand: they stand in the most severe heat of the sun, with their heads driven almost to the ground. A rare one of them is two arshins; but they are cr5iki and jumping r5zvo. The cattle brought for sale grazed quite far from the camp, and closer to the sea, where there is still grass; he was guarded by a Bedouin cavalry detachment. Their bulls are all dark brown in hair; They are no taller than our one-year-old Cherkassy calf. I think not a single bolfe contains five pounds of meat; but in Malta they soon get drunk and become fat. Their meat there is good and tasty.
