LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed the Punjab Private Loan Interest Prohibition Bill 2022. The bill was introduced by PML-Q MPA Khadija Umar.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, speaking on the floor of the House, said that the government prohibits the activity of granting loans at interest in private in accordance with the orders of Allah and the Messenger of Allah , the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He said credit for banning usury cases goes to the entire House and in particular to former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He also thanked the Chief Justice of the High Court for starting the review of religious education. The civil judges examine the provision of religious education in the respective schools. First we provide free education up to Matric and now we will provide free education up to BA. He said the government had started working on religious education in high schools.
He added that we will allocate sufficient funds for the development to be visible in the constituencies of the MPAs. He added that we are reducing the registration fee by one percent. The House also unanimously passed the Punjab Provincial Assembly Privileges (Repeal and Restoration) Bill 2022.
