CRYSTAL PALACE is still hoping to bring Conor Gallagher back to the club and salvage his World Cup dream.

The 22-year-old first broke through on loan at West Brom two seasons ago.

This led to Patrick Vieira attempting to sign him on a season-long loan from Chelsea last term.

Midfielder Gallagher was one of Palace’s finest players and scored eight goals and created a further five.

And his performances in his 39 appearances even caught the eye of England boss Gareth Southgate.

He made his international debut in November and has since won three more caps since then.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was also enthusiastic about the youngster’s form at Selhurst Park and decided to keep him at the club to be part of their first team.

Gallagher played a lot during pre-season and came off the bench late in Saturday’s opening day win at Everton on his competitive debut for the Blues.

However, the Daily Mail claim that Palace are still monitoring their situation very closely.

And they know they can offer him regular Premier League starts ahead of this winter’s World Cup.

N’Golo Kante and Jorginho started as midfield two for Chelsea at Goodison Park.

Mateo Kovacic was also on the bench and the club continue to be linked with a move for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.

His potential arrival would throw another hurdle in Gallagher’s way – which could allow Palace to pounce if he is loaned out again.
