Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka dominated England’s European Under-19 Championship opener against Austria and reminded Steven Gerrard of his favorite position.

Chukwuemeka, 18, has been heavily linked with an exit from Villa Park this summer due to the turmoil surrounding his contract at the club. It has put European giants such as Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund on red alert as uncertainty remains over his long-term future in burgundy and blue.

The England U19 star has had opportunities from Gerrard throughout the season, with his final appearance for Villa coming against Burnley in the final home game of the campaign. Chukwuemeka was deployed as one of Gerrard’s favorite 4-3-2-1 number 10s. However, he struggled to make a lasting impact on the game.

Aston Villa reach ‘agreement’ for €3.5m transfer

Aston Villa winger and Egypt international Mahmoud Trezeguet is ‘closer’ to completing his departure from Villa Park this summer, according to reports.

Trezeguet, 27, spent the second half of last season on loan at Turkish side Istanbul Başakşehir and could stay in the country as Trabzonspor are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for the winger.

According to Sabah via Sports Witness, Villa and Trabzonspor have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ for the transfer of the player with a fee of around 3.5 million euros.


Villa aware of Chelsea situation as £30m player awaits decision

Aston Villa are aware of Conor Gallagher’s situation at Chelsea as Steven Gerrard targets new reinforcements in midfield.

Gallagher, 22, enjoyed a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last season which saw him register eight goals and three assists in 33 Premier League starts. His talents were recognized by Gareth Southgate with a call-up to the England squad last season, but his future at Chelsea still remains uncertain, with Thomas Tuchel keen for the player to show him why he should start every week.

Steven Gerrard has already secured the signing of France international Boubacar Kamara to bolster options within the Villa squad in terms of midfield, but with the futures of Douglas Luiz, Morgan Sanson and Carney Chukwuemeka yet to be decided , Villa could be looking to continue their investment in the midfield this summer.


Villa and Everton transfer blow as Tottenham win race for starlet

Aston Villa have reportedly lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign goalkeeper Josh Keeley.

The Irish Under-19 goalkeeper has become Antonio Conte’s third summer signing following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster, according to The north London club then agreed a deal to bring in midfielder Yves Bissouma from Brighton, who had been a target for Villa in recent months.

And apart from losing to Bissouma, 6ft 3in keeper Keeley wouldn’t sign for Villa either. According to reports, Keeley had two trials with Villa and Everton, before deciding to join Spurs this summer.


Shock Villa and Arsenal transfer request as Man Utd flop tied

Aston Villa have been linked with a shock move for former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

The Inter Milan striker is believed to be a target for Villa, as well as a host of clubs across Europe this summer. Sanchez has just one year left on his contract with the Italian giants and according to La Tercera newspaper, Arsenal and Villa are both “attentive” to his situation.

Marseille and Spanish clubs Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also said to be in the frame, but the report adds that Villa are willing to pay the Chile international €8m net per season. Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly ‘waiting’ for Sanchez’s decision whether he leaves Inter this summer or for free in 12 months.
